Embracing Our True Selves Through the Lens of God's Creation

Have you ever felt as if you aren't enough? You meet another woman and automatically find yourself feeling a little envious of her? You compare yourself to her looks, her accomplishments, the way she expresses herself, the authority she commands, the lifestyle she may have, but only to then look at yourself and feel less than. I think we all have felt that way at some point in our lives. This is what the world creates in us, "a less than" feeling, but God whispers a different truth: "YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE" Psalm 139:13-14. You are "GOD'S MASTERPIECE" Ephesian's 2:10

Today I want to remind you of your beauty in God-and encourage you to rest in the way He has created you.

We all struggle with comparison and feelings of not being enough. For a long time, I yearned to be like those people who regardless of what others thought, or how they were perceived spoke their mind, didn't have a filter and felt little to no remorse on how they expressed themselves. I envied that, I wanted to speak my mind and not care whose feelings were railroaded, but instead of achieving that, I just had a lot of what I like to reference as "Ally McBeal" moments. If you don't get the reference, you are young, and I am glad you are here. Ally McBeal is a 90's show that at certain times during the episode, they would show a clip of what her mind really thought, sometimes funny other times very raw and real. It took time and God's grace for me to come to the realization that if God intended for me to be that way, He would have wired me like that. But He didn't, and I trust, that He knows better than me. I believe that I was meant to have exactly this personality have the gifts I have because He knew that the people I would encounter along my journey of life would benefit far more from me being like this than being a different way. God knows, God sees, God administers and deposits life changing gifts in us, not only for our own benefit but for those people we will one day meet.

The fact is that we were all created in a unique and specific way. We all have God given gifts that were not mistakes, but identifying the positive aspect of them, is by far the most important thing, next to trusting God's process. At the end of the day God is all knowing and all perceiving, meaning He already knew ahead of time what our lives would be like, what people we would encounter, He foresaw the trials and triumphs we would experience. To believe otherwise would contradict the "OMNI" in Him. I believe that one way of glorifying God, our Father and Creator, is to blindly trust and take hold of the thought that we were meant to be exactly how we are. If God created you with a gift of being business driven, don't allow the world tell you that you ought to be a house wife and that you are neglecting your home, if you are most comfortable raising babies and being a stay at home mom, find peace in knowing that you are raising world changers, arrows for the kingdom of God. If you are funny and enjoy humor, embrace that gift and bring a smile to someone that is going through a valley. If you are a fighter and love to debate/argue, in a Godly, non-threatening manner take up the challenge to defend the underdogs. Whatever you gift is, find ways of developing it to the Glory of God.

I often relate to God as a parent, and as a parent if I give my child a gift, I become uneasy if it is taken for granted, much like I believe that God would feel. The gifts He has placed inside you are exactly that, a gift, so don't take it for granted, change the lens of how you see yourself. God sees you as one of HIS unique creations! Take pride in that!

MAY YOU WALK TODAY WITH CONFIDENCE, PEACE AND JOY-RESTING IN WHO YOU ARE IN HIM...
